POLITICS
Augustin Kabuya calls for the parliamentary session scheduled for September 15 to be postponed until the evening. According to the Secretary-General of the UDPS, quoted by “FORUM DES AS,” several sources have reported planned political demonstrations in the streets of the capital on the same day, organized by opposition parties.
By proposing that the announced mobilization be separated from the opening ceremony of the parliamentary session, Augustin Kabuya, “INFOS27” adds, seeks to prevent the People’s Palace from becoming a meeting point for both protesters and members of Parliament, thereby reducing the risk of tensions that could arise.
For its part, “LA RÉFÉRENCE PLUS” recalls that the C64 has announced the resumption of its civic mobilization activities, including a peaceful march scheduled for September 15 across the country.
Meanwhile, as the presidential ordinance on the proposed national dialogue is still pending, opportunists from all sides are already making their voices heard, observes “LE NOUVEL OBSERVATEUR.” Since the President confirmed that the talks would be held, the newspaper has noted growing activity in the media and political circles among certain politicians seeking to capitalize on the situation.
JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS
In Haut-Katanga Province, the NGO Justicia ASBL and the Institute for Human Rights Research are calling for the release of opposition figure John Mbangu. “FORUM DES AS” recalls that the coordinator of the youth league of the Ensemble pour la République party in Greater Katanga has been detained by security services in Lubumbashi since Friday, September 4.
Turning to the judiciary, the ruling in the FRIVAO case, initially scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed to Friday, September 18, according to the Superior Council of the Judiciary, as quoted by “7SUR7.CD.”
The FRIVAO trial verdict postponed to September 18. According to a statement from the Superior Council of the Judiciary reviewed by “LA TEMPÊTE DES TROPIQUES,” the postponement follows a request from the judicial chamber handling the case for additional time to examine the evidence and documents submitted.
More than four years after Uganda was ordered to pay reparations by the International Court of Justice, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is now initiating the first collective compensation measures for communities affected by Uganda’s illicit activities.
According to “INFOS27,” an amount of 120 million US dollars will be allocated to development projects in four provinces in the north-eastern part of the country.

ELECTRICITY
We conclude this press review with complaints from SNEL customers in Kinshasa, who are denouncing what they describe as excessive consumption by prepaid electricity meters.
Despite regularly purchasing electricity credit, customers interviewed by “RADIO OKAPI” say their units run out unusually quickly, even when their use of household electrical appliances remains limited.
